I first made Mondeuse, a grape varietal native to Eastern France, back in 2019. It was a beautiful vintage punctuated by September rains that lightened concentration in the cellar. Because of that, I destemmed all of the grapes and leaned into prettiness. Those two rows of experimental vines were sadly ripped out, but word got out about Mondeuse “working" in Oregon and a new vineyard site willing to try it emerged shortly thereafter.

In 2022, I decided to swing the pendulum the opposite direction. 100% whole cluster on ripe, young vine (Third leaf) Mondeuse packs a beautiful dark fruit punch. There’s tannin and vibrancy that make this perhaps the most intense wine of the vintage.

A Note On The Label:

The label inspiration comes from a Philadelphia street muralist’s tile work and a spirit of exploration in uncharted waters (ie. Trying new varietals in new regions!)
